Low-Key Pragmatists: 8% of the population

The Low-Key Pragmatists segment is predominantly white and female. Most describe themselves as moderate or conservative, and two thirds identify or lean Republican. They have a below average level of church attendance, support same-sex marriage and are marginally pro-choice. Two-thirds think that life in America is worse today than it was thirty years ago, and they are more likely than most to think life will be worse for most children growing up in America today than it was for their parents. They are more likely than average to think immigration has been a force for ill. They tend to support gun ownership rights, are sceptical of bigger government, think the US has lost out from free trade agreements and are divided over whether the country has a responsibility to defend its NATO allies. Most name local outlets as the most important news source, followed by Fox News Channel and CNN.
